Hi ,
Time for an upgrade , was quoted $9850 to have a 90 2st Yamaha 07'
fitted.
Firstly, does this sound reasonable/unreasonable to anyone and secondly any advice on fuel economy/suitability for a 5 metre glass half cabin.
Thanks for any replies, Pete.

Pete I don't think it's too bad. The 4st 100hp Yammy '07 is just short of $15k.

with our dollar going up the prices of imported goods should be going down

The improving dollar is only go to help as stocks are replaced not on motors imported 2-3 months ago.

You should be able to drive an excellent deal on carby 2 strokes. I spoke to a dealer today who can not sell any of his carby two strokes even at cost! All his sales are 4 strokes and DI 2 strokers. Just remember that what you save on a carby model now could be double what you lose on resale in a few years.

Just my 2c worth.

From the Yamaha dealer here in Qatar, I phoned to double check that their prices are still the same since the beginning of last year.
AUS$ 12 000 total for two Yamaha 85 AET Longshafts (2 stroke) fitted. Yip, you read it right, that is the total price for two.

Even when you add tax into that equation something does not add up......

Yamaha 115 4 strokes is AUS$ 21 000 for a pair - fitted (No 90ies in stock so cant tell me how much they are right now.)

That cat is making an awful noise in the background right about now. I wonder how much the Americans pay for the same kind of machines on their side of the pond?

Sorry, not the kind of news or information you would like to hear right about now.....

We paid A$14,000 duty free for a pair of 2 stroke 85's 3 years ago, this was in St Martin in the Caribbean. $9850 inc duty and GST is probably about right today.
Got to be worth haggling as Jim says 2T's are getting harder to shift.

We were replacing a pair of 70 4 stroke Suzuki's which were suffering a lack of service, being on a small island out in the sticks where the mechanic's tuning tool is a big hammer. The difference in fuel consumption was huge, the Suzies sip fuel and the 2T Yams gulp it like cold beer.

Shop around, most places will give you a price over the phone. Make sure you ask what is included (cables, battery, fitting etc).

I recently bought a new Yamaha 25hp 2St, I thought Brisbane would be cheaper so I priced them down there as well as my local dealer (Gladstone). My dealer quoted me $4270, fitted, cables, new battery and isolator switch. I also got the guy in the mechanics shed to buy my old motor off me (it wasn't even working). The best price I could find in Brisbane was $4900 (cables, NO battery $150, NOT fitted $400). The prices only went up from there, the highest being $5750 (fitted, cables NO battery).

So shop around, and dont be afraid to travel to get a better price.
