G'day all,
I won a reel as a door prize at a fishing seminar last week.;D

It's a Daiwa Regal 2000-5iA. Looks and feels ok, I'm just wondering if they are actually any good.

Thanks fellas, Jeff.

G'day Jeff, plethora of info pouring in i see.;)

On the little daiwa, if its the one i am thinking of they are top little reels for the money. The Si's are just about the cheapest daiwas you can get though, so if you are used to the higher end stuff like the regal Z or better, you may find it a little less refined.
However, if you compare it to any kmart reel out there, they are beaut.

I have one (regal 2500si) that is about 7years old now and still going strong. Only needed to replace the one-way bearing in that time and give the drag plates a light sand. Hey, they're daiwa.:)

Mine is currently seeing duty as a spastics reel w/ 10lb fireline for bay squire, and i still love it.8-)

Yeah thanks Damo, that's about what I thought. I'll put 6lb braid on it and keep it as a backup.
Like you say, it's a Daiwa and I got it for zip, so I'm not complaining.

Thanks mate.;)
