Just trolling around looking for some stuff and I found a PDF which has HEAPS of info covering the following subjects:

• What is the correct height to mount the engine on the transom? (Pages 1,2 & 3)
• What is the "trim angle" of the engine? (Page 4)
• How does trim angle affect steering torque? (Page 5)
• What is power trim? (Page 6)
• Why do I need a tachometer and speedometer? (Page 6)
• How do elevation and climate affect performance? (Page 7)
• How does weight distribution affect boat performance? (Page 8)
• What is "Blowout?" (Page 9)
• Why Blowout Occurs (Page 9)
• How To Correct Blowout (Page 10)
• How should I maintain and service my propeller? (Page 10)
• What is marine fouling? (Page 10)
• What are some common signs that it may be time for a new propeller? (Page11)
• What is Pitch? (Page 11)
• How do I know what pitch is right for me? (Page 11)
• Stainless Steel vs. Aluminum? (Page11)
• Three- vs. Four-blades? (Page11)

Here's the link http://hitechmarine.com.au/######/assets/user_content/files/481b587354e80ab6ed4b96b9d6d83deb.pdf

Really quite a sensible bit of info. I have saved a copy for future reference.

Cheers, Ross

My apologies.......

They seem to have moved it or something.

I have uploaded my locally saved copy to my webspace.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/sea-dog/images/ausfish/Outboard-dynamics.pdf

that should work.

(Just checked after posting - it works)

Good read there mate. Never even thought about altitude having an effect on HP. All boaties should read those pages when first getting into boating.

Cheers Chris
