Lemon butter and lemon?

Then it becomes unsimple whiting.......:D

I generally just eat mine on fresh white bread. Only one bowl to wash up then;)

1. roll em in flour
2. dip in egg wash (a beaten egg with a dash of milk)
3. shake them in a plastic bag with some breadcrumbs in it.

n.b. if you want to get really flash put some garlic powder and dessicated coconut in the bag with the crumbs.

This is getting really unsimple now.:P

fillet, cook on the barbie, quick flip each side, eat. Anything other than a little bit of lemon or salt added is spoiling the sweet flesh IMO.

My skipper on a tuna boat I once worked on used to eat live pilchards from the bait tank, tail would be still wriggling outside his mouth on the way down.
Not really much of a recipe, but simple. BLECCCK !!!

Why not just dive down, catch the whiting in your teeth, then swallow it whole, that way you don't even need to wash your hands. Simplest.

Buy a packet of crumb-in-one from the supermarket. alls you do id wet the fish in a bit of water and cover in crumb (i put the crumb in a bowl, put fillet in cover with crumb give it a press ) than shallow fry in a bit of oil.

You should try it. Real butter is allways better.

We used to live off microwaved seafood on the trawler (fresh bug tail for 20 secs with a bit of butter and pepper is awesome).
During rough weather it's about the safest way to eat anything hot.

don't know why people get good quality 'eating fish" like (say) Whiting and Red Emperor and stuff around with a dozen different herbs and spices, pile on the garlic and crap, good fish deserves simple cooking, keep all the spices and stuff for the "lesser" eating quality species.

Just whack the fillets straight in the smoker for 5 mins you cant get a better flavour or meal.

Of all the fish to smoke i think sole and flounder are the biggest standouts for perfection.
