I think you will be hard pressed to find a late model 6hp outboard for that price. If that is your max budget you need to either go for an older motor or a smaller one.

Some of the older ones are still in good nick. They don't realy work that hard.
$300 will pick up something reasonable, it just won't be a late model.

A lady was trying to sell an older 25 Evin/Johno I think, on the radio last week end down here for around 300.

u should even try looking at a 4 or 3.3 or something because a 6 doesnt go that fast but with a 3.3 or 4 u can still get to the spot that u want to... It will be cheaper as well if u downsize to a smaller HP.

Hi mate, for $300 you'd be looking at a mid 80s model I reckon.

Johson / Evinrude in that vintage were bullet proof, so as long as the prior owner had changed the impellor and gear box oil occasionally, it will still server you well for years.

My dad has one on his 12ft tinny and it still goes as good as ever
