Even though one continually hears similar type comments with these over rated engines on KC's it would help if you first provided some facts, figures as a starting point.

What's the problem with the performance?
What is it your not all that happy about?
What props are you running?
Were these props factory/dealer fitted?
What are your revs?
What is your speed?
What is your fuel consumption?

What are/were you expecting?

Hi Wac74

I have a 1997 2400 with 2005 140 su 4 st , average fuel used on a resent trip 220 klm off 1770 1.2 lts per klm (185 lts of fuel), the motors are proped with solas 13 x 21 4 blade , I cruise on 4200 rpm and travels @ 50klm per hr using 40 lts an hr.

Previously I had 115 yamaha 2 st salt water series and on the same trip i used Just under 400 lts of fuel .

Well done mate, I see you at least answered the question. That's a pretty impressive improvement in fuel consumption, do you think the Yammies were propped correctly or were they just working hard to keep up a similar level of performance?

remember also that he went from old carby motors to modern fuel injected motors!

I think they where propped correct, WOT 5800rpm 17 inch stainless .

Sounds just about perfect!

However the 4 litres per NM with the 115's 2S's is a bit overboard, even for a 2400 KC.

Sorry took so long to get back to you been on holidays running solars 4 blade 13-21 props getting around 50lt hr sitting on 4300rpm and doing 23knots at wot 35knots and can only 5600 revs boat load 3people full fuel have taken to local suzuki dealler and tells me engines are fine but looking on net most people seem to be getting better crusie speed with better fuel ecomony

use the genuine Suzuki props, the Solas props are the wrong diameter therefore you loose the benefit of swinging the larger prop with the gear reduction, Suzuki experts i have spoken with are getting better performance with the Suzuki aluminium prop over a stainless SOLAS, otherwise use the Suzuki stainless props
btw i am getting 1 lite per km with 150 Suzuki 4 strokes on my 660 Noosacat, its running Suzuki stianless counter rotating 19" props. :)
