View Full Version : Standing Up to Drive?

I was all over a Signature 702SB today and whilst I generally liked the layout, I am concerned that given the raised bridgedeck and position of the driver's seat and steering wheel, it is not designed to drive standing up.
Anybody care to comment on this setup and also the need to stand at times when driving in a sea?
In my experience there are definitely times when you want to be standing at the wheel, but from what I could see on the 702SB this is not possible.
Thoughts?

cant comment on the boat but I stand all the time when under way and sit to fish. Find it much easier on the back

It's a lot less messy standing up when you soil yourself coming in the Narooma bar.

I do a combination of both seated and standing, but I have had a boat that was badly setup to drive standing up (seat too close) and it was a real pain, I sit mainly when doing a long 'run" like to the shelf or somewhere, but stand to do short trips, seems much better more controlled when standing, I guess if it where my boat I would be looking at some way to rectify the problem.

i do both (sit and stand) but generally have found it ok to sit most of the time, mind you i don't go out if it's really rough.

Whaleoil, consider one of these if I have the mechanics correct it will give you the option of sitting while crossing Narooma bar, although it might make your breath smell back at the ramp!;D :)

Thanks for the laugh FNQ.

:o

HMMM........a bit small (thinking to myself)
although it might make your breath smell back at the ramp
Anything’s better than explaining the finger painting on the inside of the windscreen.
$59
I would be interested but at that price and losing one a trip, it might become expensive.
You could be onto something here but I will sit on it for a while.;)

Guys, thanks for the feedback, but does anybody have any comments specific to the layout of the 702SB?
