at noosa use square shoulder ham from the deli counter at coles , works a treat for bream up there . discovered that the first week I moved to this magical country . you can even cut it up into little fish shapes if your heart desires .

lol, isn't it funny, all the baits you guys mentioned are standard methods over here :D but strange baits, sweets for carp like, the little jell sweets, they have a great consistency and stay on thr hook well

marshmallows are a great surface bait, as are dog and cat biscuits, mealworms, crickets, wet cat food, stinks to high heaven but works well, lol, bit of red wool soaked in tuna brine

Cats in crab pots are always good, even if they don't catch crabs we get rid of a few cats!

We used to fish in a creek when I was a boy using Orb weaver spiders, mainly because every tree along the banks had hundreds. The Bass would eat the spiders as they struggled with the concept of drowning, but we'd usually get busted off

Wife and I hitched a lift on a yacht off the Somali coast. We used Chicken feathers tied to hooks (we had a few live chickens for "Fresh food") and were also very successfull with a 4cm square aluminium strip crimped onto big hooks. Even caught a few tuna with only the hook at night in areas that had a lot of luminesence in the water.

.22 slugs for Bullheaded Mullet at Avoca Lake as a kid.... stopped em quick..

Used to hang a pigs head out on a willow branch and then fish under the tree with the maggotts that were dropping into the water. used to get hammered by all sorts of stuff....

My old dad worked his way around Australia twice as a young bloke and used to fish for bream around canneries with whatever they were canning, beetroot, pineapple etc...

Strips of white bedsheet for salmon off the rocks at Avoca, mum used to get
p!ssed off.....

Couldn't be bothered getting some more bait while i was on the beach so i found a shell, put a hole in the middle and feed it on just above the hook. Worked a treat, 1 dart and a tailor before losing the rig, of course it never worked again...

We ran out of bait while fishing the Wenlock River up on the Cape one Year. Dad caught a catfish and we cut it up for strip bait. End up catching four fingermark and a blue salmon, aswell as other catfish of course.
