I am looking at a Signature 630F with a 130hp Honda, which I know is underpowered, but am trying to do the sums on repowering. You might have already seen my other post, but I am frustrated with trying to dig up pricing information on new 4-stroke engines. Why the big secret I have no idea, but anyway can anybody help me with the following;

Any tips on the best repower for sensible money?

Honda 175/200, Yammy 200 or Suzuki 175/200?

Any idea what the Honda 130 would be worth as a trade-in? $5k?

We are trying to keep costs down in a sensible range, so thus wouldn't think jumping to the 225 size engines would be the way to go. Thoughts?

Does anybody have recent prices on the following engines? Even if you only have one or two of the prices, please help me try to fill in the blanks.

Only interested in four strokes thanks.

Honda 175
Honda 200
Honda 225

Suzuki 175
Suzuki 200
Suzuki 225

Yamaha 200
Yamaha 225

I have no first hand experience with the Suzukis but the hype seems good with them. They seem to have the best setup with boreXstroke and gear box ratio to be producing the best figures swinging bigger props and in their advertising the powerhead sits further inboard over the motor bracket which has got to be a good thing. This is from a Yamaha F225 4 stroke owner. What are your local dealers like? I think the 175 will be the pick of the motors for you with that size boat. Your 130 should be worth heaps more than $5,000. We got $6,000 trade on a Saltwater Series 225 EFI 2 stroke Yammie on the 4 stroke 225. PM me for a spreadsheet on 200 and 225 prices from the Brisbane Boat Show about 3 years ago that Seasaw Mark put together and we used to nut out a price with our selected dealer.

We have a 200 zuk on a 650f sig.Fitted just BEFORE the 175 zuk was released. Its a top motor with a ton of guts but a bit heavy for the 650,the 175 would be just about spoton. the 200 is a bit tricky on the bar due to the holeshot its easy to get to much air under the hull. looks good but the landing can be fun.
we use about a ltr a klm or a bit less, cruise on 3800/4000 at appox 25 knts.
not much diff between 650f/630f and the 175 would be heapsand better weight wise.
hope this helps.:)

My fingers are sore now from pressing buttons on the phone! I spent some time ringing around a few different places and have some indicative prices now. I still can't figure out why they don't publish the data, but I have what I need now anyway. It was just a little more painful and time consuming than it really needed to be.

One retailer even told me they are not allowed to publish prices as the wholesaler will not let them! Go figure.............

PM sent.

One of the local dealers said they sold a 130 Honda for between 6k and 7k recently, so with their profit margin I was working on 5k as the trade-in value. Of course they cannot commit to a number until they see the engine, but the only way that can happen is if I buy the other boat, so I have to work on rough estimates for now.

not much diff between 650f/630f and the 175 would be heapsand better weight wise.

Interestingly the price differential between the 175 and 200 I got was only $600! This made me steer towards the 200, but given it is a fair bit heavier than the 175 maybe that is the wrong approach.

Range is important too in our part of the world, so maybe the 175 is better all round, especially as I don't have any bars to deal with.

not sure if the 175 would be much better fuel wise.(alazy6 or working 4) less weight on arse would be a better deal with the sig.
price diff $600.00?thats 300 a piston!seems strange.another thought for you.a200 is the less stressed of the v6 series and the 175 the bigger of the v4 series so in theory the v6 should last longer(u would think).
where are the battries in your 630???ours were setup on the stb side at the rearend.I relocated them tojust infront of the kill tank to balance the boat.much better and less usage of trimtabs needed.would love to have the 2 boats setup one v4 and one v6 to see the diff.cheers

All good points Tracker and definitely further food for thought, but I am still not convinced this is going to stack up financially so I might have to give the whole thing a miss anyway.
