G'day everyone, having made the change from an old 27 year old Mariner 25 to a Tohatsu 25 outboard I have discovered that it is a little harder to find someone who carries spare parts in and around Brisbane. The spark plugs look a little worse for wear so I wanted to change them over. With the old Mariner I could call in just about anywhere to buy parts like impellers but am already finding it a little harder to do the same with Tohatsu. I am sure they are out there so I thought I would ask my fellow Ausfishers first. Thanks,

Poodroo

G'day

Only some of the jap built ones are lewey.

Poo, there's a good little tohatsu dealer in manly, been there many many years, he's n a shed next to the motor shop on the hill down into manly. Cannot miss him. Just turn down the hill at the lights outside of the manly state school.

Thanks Dave. What started this was I knew the Mariner needed a new impeller and first place I thought of to get one was good ol' Springwood Marine. Rang first, and then went and bought one without any hassles. Ring the same company for Tohatsu parts now that I changed motors and got an emphatic "NO!, we don't carry Tohatsu parts!" I need a sacrificial anode for it because after a little bit of research I found out it is meant to have one. The recessed area is there complete with stainless mounting bolt but no anode. I also wanted spark plugs as I already stated.

Regards,

Poodroo

any decent outboard/marine dealer will be able to get all the parts you will ever need, they just order off places like golden seal (or you could order direct yourself) things like plugs will be a multi use item and you will get them from any auto shop worth there salt

G'day again Dave, NU Marine have friendly staff alright in fact I dealt with Karen last week with my sacrificial anode questions. She took my number twice and said she would ring me back with the relevent part number etc. After 24 hours I rang her back and she said she was busy and admitted she didn't have the part number yet and asked for my phone numbers again. That was last Tuesday and I have not heard boo from her still to date. Following up call backs is part of customer service isn't it or am I mistaken? Once again thanks however for the suggestion and help.

Thanks Finga. I will check out Extreme Marine tomorrow. I am wiring up some Nav lights tomorrow (Just mounted them today) and then planning another trip out in #2 to see how it handles since the hydrofoils came off. Wednesday is looking good for a fishing trip I think. ;)

Thanks Andrew. I live at Mount Warren Park so the coast is only about a 20 min run for me. I will chase up the few options I have and then see who stocks what I need. Tomorrow is my day for doing the final things to the boat and with a window of opportunity Wednesday and Thursday as far as the weather is concerned I will be testing her out both days and hopefully put myself onto some fish.

Having friendly service isn't worth a bucket of pelican poo if you can't get parts.
I'd rather deal with a cranky old fart if he knew what he was on about, had (or able to source quickly) the parts and meant what he said.
No beating around the bush for me
