I'm going to try my hand at an 8kg fully rollered game rod. Has anyone got any advice on blanks. I was looking to spend up to about $150.

I have been considering the sabre eglass or the calstar 6455.

any advice appreciated

Hi S-Strike,
this is just my opinion but I use Live fibre blanks on rods 10kg or less in game rods and above that I use Sabres/Seekers. The reason is that the live fibres have the give you need to fight the fish and the rod is doing the work for you unlike the broomstick of 24-37kg+. The sabres in the 15kg+ blanks have got the nice feel about them. You aren't breaking your back trying to get the fish in because the rod is doing the work for u. Others will disagree.
Cheers, Jan.

I just realised I can't name a mail order tackle shop as Ausfish sell by mail order, but I can recommend hastings.

I am in the process of building two Hastings blanks, they are my new favourites.

Would also agree that with 24kg+ you're simply skull dragging, much prefer to fish with light game in the 10-15kg range with a fast taper.
