If my mate Darren didnt have bad luck he wouldnt have no luck at all??? as the song says.
After all the hassle and delay he experienced getting his new rig up here from Melbourne he finally got to sea trial it today.
The 235 evinrude nearly sent it into escape velocity apparently, then after half an hour running sweetly siezed completely. Tell tale was working , cant figure what happened . Now he's really under the pump to be ready for the frazer comp.
I hope he can get it going in time without breaking the bank.

Yep, that be something to watch out for with your new second hand boat.
Tell tail water stream is one thing, but is it getting oil, maybe premix is the go until you know for sure the Vro is up to spec.

Was the vro disconected and running straight fuel.

Has any other temp, or water flow been disconected.

Have you looked at the contents of the gearbox is it oil or water.

Have the plugs been checked after a run in a tank for water.

Check the compressions while your at it.

All these things should be looked in to before you take her out for the first time and you don't know the history of the motor.

It was 6 weeks after I bought my boat before I even started it up.
There was plenty to do until I was happy taking her out.

That's real bad luck though.

Compression was 130 on all cylinders,
premix was used I think'
New plugs were installed after a run with the muffs on,+ new water pump+ full service
Gearbox???
Vro???
Bad luck for sure!
