Hi All
As mentioned previously it now appears that the QPS are about to get a little keener on theft prevention including people using Data Dot DNA microdoting on their gear. NSW are already into it.
It may be the best that we can do to protect our gear because with the warning stickers and our items protected the unprotected, unmarked stuff is going to be a lot more attractive and safer for a thief to grab be it a trailer, motor, bits of gear or the total boat package.
Perhaps watch Qld Ch 7 or Ch 9 18.30 news tonite, Thurs 26th, for more details
Cheers

Chimo...
You will have to fill me in. The constablesare last to get told about stuff!
My boat is 'datadotted' and the number is registered in the Police computer system against my boat registration too.
I can simply type in my data dot number and it will show that number belongs to that boat, that belongs to me, and thats my mobile number to call me and verify it.
Its a tough system you use... but has its merits!

sorry to hijack your post chimo but a question for booty...on Wednesday arvo I was at Horizon Shores...in came a barge with a police paddy wagon on board...the barge was also a police vessel. We were wondering where they would be taking the paddy wagon...it was not a 4WD therefore Sth Stradbroke was out of the question ..seemed a long way from Nth Stradbroke to have it that far south...any ideas???

Hi Bootyinblue
I believe there was a launch of the microdot DataDot DNA with the QPS senior officers (Commisioner D/Commissioner) types present as a step to enhance protection of property and to assist recovery and convictions in Qld.
I had been told that this was coming and although Ch 7 promos earlier in the day did show some footage of the story my experience with media suggests the story got bumped from 7 due to time and other stories eg hoon footage. Not sure if it got onto 9 as they also promoed it. Probably they were all at the press briefing.
Maybe talk to Simon Jackson 0419 418 772 OIC Marine Datadots DNA or A/Sgt Lisa Lynch at GC Dist Crime Prevention Unit re this and the other QPS property marking system that can be used on absolutely everything with police marking stickers, engraving with the engravers the police lend and the details registered on the police computer. Booty, your joking about it beng a tough system to use aren't you ?
It sounds like your have the same coverage as I do with Datadot and the QPS for boat motors trailer and associated and not associated gear.
We apparently can also pick up a further 10% discount on insurance with at least a couple of the marine insurance companies by having the datadot treatment on the gear too so that more than covers the Dot cost in the first year its done. Cool!
Normally the Data dots Marine regn of the the dot id no. has the details you provide for boat HIN, motor (s) number (s) and trailer VIN all registered at the Datadot website that the owner can check and Police can access 24 / 7 on the web.
NSW Police are apparently using a datadot numbers removed from recovered items and tendered to court as evidence for each item found in possession of crims to achieve much more significant and worthwhile sentences which I put to you may be a reason crims don't like doted stuff!
Hope that clears it up a bit for you. So as you and other in the force said and I found the NZ type system is too hard to get up here and if only a few of us have dotting with the stickers all over the trailer, car and boat the crims have all the other boats and trailers etc to work on so once again those who plan and prepare are OK and the ones who don't care ............................ well what can you say!
Cheers

Pinhead
You don't need a 4WD to drive in sand. Just run on 15 psi, you should have come with me into the desert checking on Lighthorse exercises with their tracked gear vs my Falcon 6 cylinder sedan!
How did the Pin go on the 25th. I was going to head up but turned sth to avoid the crowd.
Cheers
