I've seen these in some photos and vids but have not seen any in the local shops.

Are they only custom made rods and not available at the lower end.

I'm more interested in the function of the style. What benefits does this type of grip give to the angler, less weight, less fatigue or just the look??

I think they're called split grips.

It seems to be a yanky-doodle-dandy thing or if you want a long butt.
It would cut the weight down fractionally but I reckon it's a looks thing...
I might well be wrong (I usually am) and there is some purpose to them.
