Bluechart g2 Choice

Hi Team.

Fishing in NT - off Nhulunbuy, GOVE -
(and not interested in fishing south of Cairns or south of Darwin).

I have a choice of Garmin g2 bluecharts to get:

1) Garmin BlueChart g2 Mackay NW to Esperance 010-C0636-00

2) Admiralty G. WA to Cairns, (2PC412S) 010-C0641-00

Option 2 covers smaller area of top end, whereby option 1 covers much larger area that includes whole of top end plus much much more area!

Would option 2 be better for me in my situation and would it give me much more detail because of less area to cover?

Hi Splash,
I may be wrong, but the chart from Tiger GPS doesn't seem to be a G2 chart, but looks like a genereation 1 chart not marked correctly. Still a Bluechart, but not what is advertised.
Also, the amount of detail from G2 chart to G2 chart is dependant upon the reference charts used to create it. Some areas have more reference available than others so will be more detailed in those areas.

When you open up the link for the tigergps bluechart, it actually says bluechart g2.

May I ask how you believe this is not a g2 bluechart, when it actually states g2?

How can you tell?

Hi Splash,
When I checked the Garmin site for G2 charts in OZ, the numbers did not match up nor did the Chart dimensions. I have an older printed brochure that shows the same map dimensions as the one on the Tiger GPS site but the product No is different and it is for the gen 1 Bluechart.
Like I said, I don't know for sure, but the data from Garmin's own main site does not match up.
However, the GME site in Australia (Garmin distributer in OZ) does list the product No as PC021R as a Bluechart reference, not G2.
