Hi

I am thinking about raising the height of my 40 hp on the transom. The only concern I have is that it seems to be siliconed on. Can anyone suggest a way of removing the silicone easily without having to completely take the motor off the transom. (I am hoping to remove the upper bolts but just loosen the lower bolts, lift the motor and then put the upper bolts back in again, but the amount of silicone to remove is significant).

What about a blade from one of those el-cheapo disposable stanley knives.

The blades are really flexible, so you could easily place the blade flat against the transom. Just go all the way around the motor mount.

That would have to get to most of the silicone.

Mate I just undid mine, pushed the bolts out, slide it up and push the bolts back in. The Silicon all gave way and slid along to the next spot. Tightened the bolts back up and waddya know!!!! No leaks.

I must have been lucky!!!!
