Hey guys

I was just wondering if anyone has a plan or method as far as searching for bass schools go.
I normally know roughly where they are holding in the dams I normally fish in and I just scan around on sounder from there.

But if I was to try somewhere new what would be the prefered method to search?

in 20 to 30 foot of water - off the points
- On southside of headlands
- small depressions in flats

Otherwise just cast to structure, lilly pads, edge of weed beds.

Find the old river bed and then just start cruising the area from there. If there are good flats near the river bed in the 20 - 30 foot mark like Feral said, then that is usually a good place to have a looksee. Spending half an hour sounding out an area is better than logging one small area for hours for nothing. Just watch in some dams that hold Bony Bream as some of the schools that show up can be infact big bonies, and sometimes even talapia, or catties like in Big W! Happy hunting

P.S also depends on the time of year too. Like around now the Bass are hanging towards the dam wall at Somerset, but around september the schools move back to the north of Pelican point through to Queen St. Just find where the bait fish is, and you'll find the Bass. My theory anyway. LOL
