Headed out in "Alexander" (8.5 meter plate boat with twin 250 suzuki's) yesteday at 10am for southern hards/ northern barwons with mate following in a 5.5 meter Noosa Cat. Swell was about 1.9 metres with occasional ones over 2.5 metres.
Mate in Noosa Cat decided to head for the southern barwons but we continued at a slow 15 knots and arrived at first mark about 12.30. Fishing was slow for the next 2 hours but managed about 15 pearlies around 40 cm( 5 on board). Two of us decided to try jigging for the first time immediately hooked up and boated 5 AJs to 15kgs then both jiggs were lost to monster AJs. Found new mark about 400 metres away and in one hot session of about 20 minutes boated 2 nice 2 kg snapper, 10 Tuskies to 3kg, Mouri cod and an assortment of moses and hussar.

After 4pm every spot closed down, nice shows on the sounder but no bites.
Headed back to Mooloolaba about 5.45pm swell had dropped off and we sat on 30 knots and arrived at 7pm.

Didn't take any pictures out on the water due to flat battery in digital camera.
Took photo this morning of a couple of my fish prior to fileting.

Caught many tuskies over the years but never had one that stank.
Many people I know prefer them over other reef species.

Now i know why it's hard to get you up that way Brian..lol
I prefer tuskies over most reef fish.
I have never got a tuskie that stank either from the Banks
I found that some snapper and spangel sweetlip stink.

.Only relatively new motors 57 hours up. On a trip to the southern hards (70 miles out and back) the motors use about 150 litres for 10hours continuous running at varying speeds up to 40mph. The motors have been left on due to strong current ( we hover over a mark with boat pointing into the current) for the past two trips. The motors do 3500rpm @ 30mph. Gauges are in miles per hour not Knots
