Just wondering what the general public think about cheap rods. I paid $5.50 for a 15-24kg 1.6 meters first and top roller rod for my tld 25 i brought on wednesday. Just wondering how they make the money on this rod. ( including a rod bag too??)

How a hamburger is more than $5. I know it wouldn't be as nice as holding a $300 rod.

Going to test it on the weekend and i'f it's good. i'm gonna buy more.

At that price buy 5 or 10. If it breaks grab another and try not to be so hard on it.;D. I know you can get cheap rods and combos but that is insane.
I saw an abu bait runner reel and 5-8kg rod at the local chain fishing store with a price of $59 and thought that was a bargain. Maybe your onto a good thing timmdo.

it arrived today.. Postage was $15 . so all up $20 rod. Looks good and will test it this weekend. The butt is good and it seems light. Arrived this afternoon in a paper cylinder and a rod bag.

Yip. got it on E-bay, line caster rods. If it fails i'm gonna get a real rod ( i mean $100 dollar mark).

not one for ebay stuff my self (fishing stuff), there is some bargins to be had. But at a cost of $20 you can afford to be not real careful with it and when, not if it breaks you are only $20 dollars down. I have a cheap bait runner I got from a local ebayer (looked at his ful range when I picked it up, braid, rods, reel etc) and this reel dosnt get looked after, never been washed and gets general abused, running 50lb braid on it with a nearly locked up drag, this reel has been used for every thing from flatties to 5 foot gummies with a couple of rays thrown in for good measure, still going and still waiting for it to bust, cost me $20 about 14 months ago, so go figa

well i bought a couple of spinning reels of 2 different ebayers that specialise in fishing equip paid under $20.00 each delivered , i must admit when i got them they looked great & thought what a bargain .first time used number 1 reel never to be used again fell apart & 2nd reel used it about 3 times & handle broke off .they now have both gone to land fill. i will never again buy something that you cant touch.could of put the 40 buks to a decent reel.

Hi Blaze,

Was that a Forsyth reel that you got? I think that Brian Forsyth bloke is quite close to you. I picked up one of his baitrunner reels recently, just a spur of the moment job for the price. They seemed OK to deal with.

If it breaks, then it breaks. I guess I'll find out when I get around to using it. :-/

hhmmm I have seen a few "ebay bargains" in my day, most of the rod blanks are made out of the thinnest wall you can get, all of the reels anti reverse soon turns into anti forward as well or they fail to have a handle tthat can be firmly attached for more than a few days, gees all those "features" for 10 bucks, not for me I'm afraid.
