My 60hp Mercury 4 stroke EFI motor usually emits one beep from the ignition assembly just prior to starting. Today the one beep has been replaced by 3 beeps. In checking the literature provided with the motor this would indicate that there may be an 'engine problem'. The motor still starts and seems to run OK and subsequent starts afterwards and you are back to the correct 1 Beep. If the motor is off for a while then back to 3 beeps.

It may be a coincidence but the motor has just clicked over to 100hrs on the clock so am wondering if the 3 beeps is like a maintenance indicator that gets reset by the mechanic after the service. The 3 beeps has never occurred prior to today.

I will contact a mercury mechanic during the week but would be curious if others have had the 3 beeps around the service intervals marked in the handbook.

Regards Cameron.

Or you could remove offending beep device.
