Like most people I like to keep my gear looking new. just wondering what everyone uses to keep your rods looking shiney. I have used Mr Sheen in the past but not sure if thats good for the rod or not.

Hose down when i get home with good old fresh water from the hose, and a wipe with a clean rag. keeps them clean and cant hurt the rod.

giving it the good old hose down can drive salt thurther into the bearings and internals. I personally don't really care what the cosmetics look like aslong as my internals are in good nick. hose on light spray and wipe residual salt off with wet clothe. use crc tackle guard or a light reel oil to put a light protective film over the surface

I throw everything in the shower with me, the rods and reels. Warm water dissolves salt, but I am careful not to put the full force of the spray on the reels. Wipe dry afterwards and remove all sharp objects like hooks before doing this!!;D ;D

Warm water would do a great job on getting the reel and rod cleaned. The spool (line) need a good warm water soak soak due to salt building up at the bottom of the line.

After washing and drying your Rod apply some Inox to a cloth and wipe over the rod and guides - great stuff!
Keep the same rag for further applications.

Warm water wash for reel and line, cold water rinse for rods, Mr Sheen on rods when necessary. Works for me!
Dismantle reels when necessary and regrease, lubricate bail rollers with either spray grease or lanolin spray on a more regular basis, say every 3 or 4 outings. Occasional overspray of reel bodies with lanolin, wipe off excess when dry.
Was warned off WD40 years ago!
Cheers!

I always just use fresh water, as said not too harsh around the reel/line area.
But for what you're asking, I have heard of a silicon spray that can be bought, it's safe to the line and makes it all look nifty I gather.

Light spray with water and then lanolin spray . Lanolin spray on line doesn't repel fish.

Seems to be the commom thing soapy warm water then coat with inox or tackle gaurd and wipe down this seems to be the best as this is proven by watching couple of mates rods after the same fishing trips and noticed salt residue and spots light rust on there gear, so it definatly works.
