Mick.

given past threads, I don't think there's many TLDI owners on here. i have a 50 TLDI tiller model on a heavy 4.55m tinnie. it's really hard to give you accurate figures, and I know it's not a 70, but they might be somewhat useful.

as a rough guide, if I use 40 litres, then I've had a big day (for me!!), travelling approx 50+ n.miles, on the plane and also trolling. I could be wrong, but I don't think it actually uses fuel while trolling at idle!!!

I have never had to top up the oil during a single day's operation.

as far as reliability goes...when I sell my boat, I'm keeping the motor. say no more.

sorry that's all I've got.

I run a 90 TLDI, it's 2 yr old & 450 hrs with no problems.

Don't have a fuel flow set up for accurate readings, but seat of the pants calculations are showing Fuel economy as excellent.

Cruising around at around 3500 (18 to 20knots) in good off shore conditions has given around 70nm to 40litres.

Crank it up, which is more often the case and it's not as good, (the same with any motor) but still a damn sight better than a conventional 2 stroke.

She'll do a heavy afternoon of 4 to 5 hrs skiing & tubing for 40 odd litres.

I know you said a 70, but the nearest comparison test I've seen is this one

If you are looking at TLDI's you could also consider the optimax as it is the DFI same technology under licence from orbital or was anyway.

Dicko what blade u spinning on your 90 and what is WOT speed and what is it bolted to?

Mine is spinning a 14" blade to make 5800rpm and WOT speed of 56kmh. I expected better.

Would you also have figures (litres and speeds) for the other revs in 500 or 1000 multiples.

Andrew Norton reports that he was getting 12.8l at 4000 on the particular boat/prop he tested. I thought 12.8 to be very good and was wondering how you figues looked for the other revs. Do you get 12.8 (or therabouts) when the revs drop to 4000?

Figures will differ from boat to boat, but the others would be helpful to get a better idea of what is happen across the rev range.

kind regards Trevor
