I've got an issue that won't go away with my 90HP Evinrude FICHT and my service guy has run out of answers. Every now and again it runs rough and pings at 1000-2000 rpms to the point where I know it's going to leave me stranded at some stage (probably 30km from shore:)). We've changed plugs / plug leads fuel filters, drained the tank, inspected the electrics still to no avail. The annoying part of the problem is that it does not happen all the time, just generally when you are miles from anywhere.

Anyway, I want to take it to someone else for a second opinion. Can someone let me know who they use who may specialize in these engines and can recommend someone who is not going to rip me off (Im in Brisbane)

Cheers

Allan Downes at Downes marine is the guru on these. Sounds like your engine is having trouble around the changeover from homogenous to stratified combustion. Could just need a software upgrade.

Thanks guys,

Anthony Peterson put me onto Allan Downs who can't see me until middle of April at this stage:o, so I'll have to keep looking

Hi

Maybe River City Marine at Brekky Creek - never had an etec, but they serviced an old 2 st for me. Wynum Marine also generally seem to know what they are doing.
