I havent given my new boat a good scrub on the outside since i got her about 6mths ago and she is lookin a bit dirty. Is there anything i SHULDNT use to clean it . What should i use to get all the dirt etc off with, normal car wash stuff, dishwashing detrergent, laundry detergent and a scourer, any ideas.

i use car wash applied with old broom and gernie off.
i used laundry detergent on a car once and it removed all of the polish. so i dont know if it would hurt alloy.

Just go easy with the car wash....follow the instructions and don't do the old poor trick....and one for good measure. Some car wash can be quite agressive on expossed alloy. Thin it out a bit and make shure you flush the hull out! I just use a spong and wash her down and rinse off....but I am a fuss and do it after each trip. :bath:

CT18 is good on alloy AS LONG AS IT"S SUITABLY DILUTED - probably about 20:1
use it full strength and it will stain the alloy badly

I agree with Bilge Boy...go easy with the car wash.....boat manufacturers here told me to only wash with fresh water...and occasionally with car wash......as BB said it can react with the metal

Laundry detergent and Washing detergent both contain small amounts of Bleech. I would not use it even on alloy.

Truck wash for mine, with a very soft broom head, cleans beautifully :)

If you are a fresh water fisher-person then use just clean water and elbow grease otherwise you won't catch any fish for weeks until the remainder of the detergent goes away.

I leave mine dirty...
