Caught this at Wello on sat don't know what it was. The blue was as bright as.

Thats a wierd one but it is definitely a Paraplesiops Poweri (can't find a common name) but you can get more info at this website

They don't appear to have a common name but you are right on the money with that one snakecatcher. Look like a nice candidate for an aquarium fish for the marine hobbiest.

thanks guys did a google after Snakecaters reply and it's in the Roundhead family.

Poodroo it would look great in a aquarium the colors were amazing.

Heya Dogsbody

Thought I knew most of the fish in the bay but can't say I even seen one of them before. If you hadn't said you caught it at wello I would have been thinking it was a fresh water species that escaped someones fish tank.

yep a blue devil, totally protected, hope you chucked it back? caught a few before, and seen a few diving.

Yeah it went back it was about 20cm and i wouldn't keep something i don't know what it is.

Hi guys.The western Blue Devil is a Paraplesiops Meleagris.The Paraplesiops Poweri,which is the fish you caught Dogsbody is commonly known as a Blue-Tip Longfin.As Snakecatcher said they are part of the Longfin or Roundhead family,similar to the Dottybacks.
