In the american "Sportfishermen-Forum" I found a link about a possible new Marlin-Record in the 80lb class.
A German guy caught a Marlin with 1250lb standup in 40 Minutes with a 80lb gear.
HERE (http://www.################.info/thread.php?threadid=813&sid=) is the link of the report and Here is the link of the personal homepage (http://www.bluewaterfishing.eu)of the catcher (unfortunately in German, but the fotos are fine).

Thats no problam mate, if the angler is good on the rod, fit and the crew are on the ball then there isnt any problam what so ever. In fact Marsha bearman from the states hooked and landed a 1050lb black out from Cairns some years ago on 50lb line, took here 20 minutes.

Bloody murders can they not afford a video camera!!!! Can they not leave those creatures in the ocean!!!! Just my opinion. Dont wanna offend any marlin fishos. But its so sad to see them go to waste.
