Great Photo. Not so great for the owner. How on earth? Tsunami perhaps? It reminded me of the joke that was going around after the Boxing Day Tsunami - how the Surfers Paradise Surf Classic ended in an unusual manner. It was won by an Indonesian on a wardrobe.;D

G'day
Maybe caught somewhere with huge tide variations, not too dissimilar to all the houseboats down at the broadwater

Not a pretty site !, Found one just like that at Pelican Island in CQ a few years back, my mate and I couldn't believe it. Did a lap of the island and found mum, dad and the two kids around the other side of the island. Had anchored the boat in a nice little cove at high tide and gone fossicking in rock pools. 4.6 metre tide that day, they could not believe it when we took them back and showed them.

The time was 5.00pm and they were stressing out, rang the coastguard on the mobile and gave the happless family a lift back to the mainland(Emu Park) since it would be 9.00 pm till it could be refloated. The coastguard assured us that all would be well and the dad(a doctor who had only had the boat for a month) bought us a carton for our troubles. Lucky for him it was a glassy day or his boat would have got smashed big time, I guess he learned a bit that day.
Cheers !!!

Re That boat in the original photo ........

It doesnt have a 90hp Mercury on it does it ?(about 1997 model black and red stickers)

The hard top and extended bow rail is made from aluminum ?

I think ive seen that boat in real life. It was For Sale about 5 months ago.

Looks like one of the previous model Yalta Craft, so i am guessing it is local.
Doesn't look banged up enough to be the result of a storm putting it there either.

Those rock formations are of a volcanic type more common to the middle and southern East Coast of Oz, so that would sorta rule out a tide-guide misreading.
??????hmmmmm, I am thinking photoshop here....well done either way.
