Finally got to blood the new rig i picked up before christmas. Have managed a few trips out in it but havent really dont real well.
The day started off leaving kingaroy at 3 on friday morning on the water by 6. Headed to rooneys looking for tuna schools but they just werent there. we did manage to come across acres and acres of feeding mackeral. There where bait balls with mackeral everywhere with a few bronze whalers and a hammerhead thrown in aswell.
We manged to bag out by 8.30 so the rest of the day was spent catching and releasing having a good bit of fun. we headed wider hoping to find tuna but nothing.
Decided to start heading for home at about 1 on the way back to harbour decided to soft plastic a bit of known reef off the arch cliffs. First drop and a solid hookup 20 mins later a 9 kg golden trevally was brought aboard. Had a few more drifts for nothing.
So with our bag limit the call was made to head home.It was a awsome day with glassed out conditions all day. And the new rig used about 80 litres for the day so i am happy with that.
until next time Scotty
