Reef Rezoning claims another ministerial scalp!
The Fishing Party (Qld) was quick to connect the dots with a second environment minister demoted today with Minister Campbell following Minister Kemp as another casualty of rampant environmentalism gone wrong.
"The now well acknowledged debacle of the Great Barrier Reef rezoning and both its effect on industry and the massive compensation costs to Government, are, we believe, one of the nails in this ministers coffin" said Fishing Party (Qld) spokesman Kevin Collins.
"This minister has continued to defend his bureaucrats and continued to make excuses, rather than take action, while others within Government have consulted with an industry devastated by the rezoning and helped pick up the pieces".
"It took the direct intervention of the Prime Minister to bring the Environment department bureaucrats to heal in regards both the compensation to industry issue and the decriminalisation of recreational fishing infringements and we look forward to Minister Turnbull taking control of an out of touch bureaucracy and bringing some common sense and a far more consultative and pragmatic approach to future marine park zoning issues."
Members within the Howard Government are already on record as calling the rezoning an act of bastardry.
