Apparently this was a ferry that went out from a port somewhere in New Zealand.:o

I wonder how a Supercat would have handled itself in those kind of waves? ;D

Hey Wessel

Two comments

Now I know why they close the back doors on those things; its to stop the cars, trucks and people from falling out!

You know those frp rods they put on dune buggies? Well the NZ buggers put two solid flag poles up on theirs but forgot the flags!

Nice video tho

Cheers

Great videos.. I wonder how many people were sea sick up on that ferry.

I watched the praqctice rescue........twice.

To me, in alot of the camera angles and shots, their boat sure looks like a model boat, I suspect it is and the whole video is a fake. No right minded rescue group would go out in that, especially for a training run.

I am impressed with the grabrails in that rescue craft, (black rat posting)
they seem to prevent people from flying upwards off the deck and backwards over the transom.

Why not use that rescue craft as a charter boat - no matter what the weather is doing, the charter will be going out :) You may even earn a few extra frequent flyer points while you are out there

Its reall!

I lived in California for a year on the coast and have watched them back there rescue boat into the beach in a huge swell then power out over/through everything just for practice. I surfed with a guy who was rescue jumper on a coast guard helicopter. The place were they filmed that rescue boat is at the entrance to river where they have a training base for all the extreme rescue training.

Marlin mike, ozlongborader is right, and every coastguard skipper in america has to train through that bar, to be qualified.

Some of those seas you need a submarine in order to stand a better than fair chance to survive......:o The one second you are still afloat, the next you are part of the spin cycle in a washing machine

I have only once experienced swells of over 15 meters in height on a ship of 170 meters long. The closest land was over 1600 nm away, a relative short swim across a cold south Atlantic. That was probably the longest two days in my life. You first think that you are going to die, then you start to wish that you will die. By the time that you are so sick that you want to just end it all and take a long walk on a short plank, you are physically incapacitated, but you are still conscious and aware of every roll of the ship. Every shudder as the bow plows through yet another small hill. And that was just day one, there was another full 24 hours to go before the worst of the storm passed. I now know why they call it the roaring forties. The furious fifties and the screaming sixties they can keep all to themselves thank you very much.

Completely off-topic, but whilst browsing through you-tube, I found THE BEST remote controlled aircraft demo you will ever see.
