Read in Friday's Outdoor liftout in the Courier-Mail that there are now 18 stocked dams that are opened to the taking of Barra during the closed season.
The new rules allow for a take and possession limit of one Barra per angler during the closed season between November 1 and february 1. The size of the fish can also be greater than 120cm.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a far more reasonable ruling given that the fresh water Barra can't breed anyway. With a few of the bigger ones being taken, it should give the smaller ones a better chance of survival and reaching a reasonable size.
Cheers, Clutter.
