North Pine Dam and permits.

Hey all.

Just curious, do I need a permit to fish at north pine dam from the dam bank or is that only applicable to boats?

For bank fishing, no sip required but you can only fish from the public access areas.

No boats of any sort allowed unless you obtain a permit from the stocking group (no internal combustion engines allowed).

Not worth trying for one at present as there is no launching allowed due to the low water levels.

Bah..so you can't go exploring around the bank like you used to (this was back in the day before it was all fenced up)?

Official stance by the SEQWCorp is that bank access is allowed at designated recreation areas & walking tracks only.
This is for Samsonvale, Somerset & Big W.

Sucks about the permits... Why can't they just increase ranger presence and allow more recreational fishing from boats. The only harm done should be to fish stocks, and it has probably been overstocked anyway.

there are many acces points to the dam along winn road that i guarentee you will not find a ranger at. there is one at fischle road i swear by it there are logs along the road so no change of being caught. caught a few eel tails and good amounts of redclaw. saw a metre long catfish at least......... bloody huge

Went there today to have a go. Fished a little further down Bullocky's rest.

Forgot to bring a float, so I used a little piece of wood I found instead.

Gar fish galore.
