G'day, I know there's a restriction on outboard motor size on Lenthalls Dam (6 hps max if I'm remember correctly), but could anyone tell me if just having a larger sized motor and solely just using the electric bowmount, is deemed legal?

Unless they have changed things in the last few weeks you can get away with using a larger outboard as long as the speed is kept at <4kts. There is a size rule but this is not enforced, the speed is the main thing. If you wish to just use your electric I cant see any drama at all though. Best thing would be to flick a PM to BigDan or TonyM (both which should be floating around the top of frazer at the moment the lucky buggers)

Always just bung a chrysler sticker over the old donk, then that merc 225 will look like an old chrysler 5......

Thanks for the imput, much appreciated.

I hear the track in is pretty average, would it be suitable for 2wd?

Thanks again.

The track in there is fine for 2wd as long as you go very slowly, in saying that if its wet then dont bother.

G'day there Snyper

You won't need to go far so the 6 knot limit on the dam isn't a problem. #Just look around you and you'll see plenty of stumps just below the surface in most areas so it's definitely wise to stick to the limit. #Make sure you don't fish too light either as you just never know if the next fish will be a bass or a barra. 20 lb is a happy medium for a trace or even 40 if you're specifically targeting barra.

The road in was pretty ordinary when we were there last month but nothimg too bad. #The water there is a bit different to Somerset though, very tannin stained so visibility is down considerably. #The fish there seem to be turned on by fast ripping jackalls then pausing, hold on when you pause, they hit hard.

Good luck when you head over there. #I'll be going there for the next bass electric, can't wait. #

Thanks for that Rob, all good info and much appreciated.

I'll be heading there in November on the way back from Awoonga, more or less a stop over to break up the trip; should be there for two nights.

Should be interesting. From what I've seen it's certainly a pretty waterway. Just need the car to be in one peice from the rest of the trip south...
