anyone know whats being cought in the fitzroy river 'fresh water side'
best spots ?
best times ?
best bait ?
any info would be great ..........

Not a lot Mick at this time of year, perhaps catfish and maybe the odd toga right up stream.
A barra would be a lot to ask with the nights so cool but not impossible.

Are there really crocs in the Fitzroy? I lived in Rocky from 1959 - 1962. We lived on the river just downstream from the barrage (which wasn't built at that stage). As far as we were concerned there were no crocs in the Fitzroy and we swam in the river all of the time. Caught some nice salmon and barra too. Biggest barra I saw caught there went 85 pounds (38.6 kg). That's me standing beside it (weighing about half what I do now).

Ask the competition water ski club, they almost cancelled an event because QPWS refused at that time to relocate a pesky croc that appeared on video during a previous meet.
I won't go swimming in that river, it's not short on bull shark either.
