Gidday everyone,

Now the weather is warming up a bit, I was thinking it might be worth chasing redclaw at N Pine Dam. I have only done this once before, and got a dozen or so good-sized crays.

I was just wondering if I am jumping the gun. Is it worth a go now, or should I wait a month or so?

Regards,

Mike

I'm no redclaw expert, but do go out redclawing on most fishing trips. I've caught my redclaw in the stinking heat of the summer. It will be good to see what the fellow ausfishers have to say.

They will only start moving around when the water heats up around DEC JAN

Mike,
Checked the pot this morning, had a dozen or so nothing of any size but a couple not to bad, no way near as good as in the summer months. This was only one pot so 4 pots for the same period or a bit longer should give you a feed. Did get some dirty looks from a security guard when I was coming out of the bush on Wynn road, they must be using a private security company to patrol the dam now.

Wivenhoe used to be a great place for RedClaw but alas due to the rapidly declining water levels they are now non existent.

Hello Louis,

Yes I am surprised that I cannot catch any. They must be dormant at present.

One wouldn't think that they would go walkabouts from such a large water source.
Oh well just keep trying eh!

Thanks.
