caught this today at north pine no idea what it is

has a long spine on the dorsal fin about 10cm long, rounded nose, took a 2inch paddle tail.

maybe a very lean boney bream or is it camera angle makes it look lean.

100% sure its a bony bream mate ;) you should have put a hook in it and thrown it back out!!!!! Will have to remember to pack the 2' plastics for them next time.. Never caught one on line before.

Yep will live in both, most of the bigs dams have them too.

With a cast net when prawning in the Pine. Sometimes get a school of them around the 20cm size. Supposed to be very good bait for mud crabs

Barra,Bass,Garfish,Mullet,Mangrove Jack,Catfish....
Then I've also heard that Bream,Big eye Trevally,whiting can too and of course Sharks ;D

how would you catch the boney bream in fresh water dams as you often hear about fishing the bait schools of boney bream for larger fish.

People at times get them on lures. I think it must be a reaction bite. It's the same with Garfish. They usually follow your lure, most times leaving it alone but other times they give it a whack and swim off. But yes, that is definately a Boney Bream. We get them quite often in the Lower Reaches of the Brisbane River if there'sbeen some good down poor. We usuallyget them in schools upto around 10-15 depending on size.
