bait trap

Have just bought a bait trap and would like to know what type of baits to put in them.
When i go up to the Murry river i used a steel bucket with holes drilled in bottom ,cake of soap and a branch off a gum tree to catch shrimp, what other techniques are ther for local lakes and creeks?

Well depends on what you are trying to catch.

Old fish frames usually work well for shrimp and redclaw, but many baits work.

Raw chicken has been getting me plenty of shrimp

yeah cheers guys i have just got back from the Edwards river , i used some cut up pieces of cheese in the trap and boy did i get some shrimp , the cat food worked to but the cheese was the go. Landed many cod but only 2 keepers.
