I'm about to put a rear facing rod holder on my bass kyak which will hold a second rod. This is so I can have two types of lure/rod ready to cast or troll.
I have an Abu 6500 which I was thinking of spooling with lead core trolling line that I have read about being used for trout in dams. I've seen pictures of Alvey reels being used, would the Abu 6500 be ok?
I have no experience with this and would appreciate any advice. How dear is this stuff?
I plan to use it for flathead in estuaries and also freshwater natives in dams.
Thanks for help, Andrew.

Andrew,

A fellow I know from work has just moved up from melbourne and spent alot of his time fishing eucumbene. He has two 6500 spooled up with lead core line and we are working on getting him out into the SEQ dams to see how well they will work. I don't see why it wouldn't.

Cheers

Simon.
